Magic and the School Nurse

Bradley Henson focused. All those meetings of magic club meeting were going to pay off. Taking magic lessens all through school (even the optional classes), spending time studying magical formulas, push his powers (such as they were) to the limit, and otherwise doing things that made the jealous kids call him a nerd or magic class spaz. But what they called him didn't matter. Not anymore.

"ASZSA KSAS OHJHH." Bradley intoned.

He could feel the power leaving him with each word he said. Going from him to the construct of magical energy that he had spent days (he was almost ready to call it weeks) forming. He staggered as the last word dropped from his mouth. If he was more powerful he could have finished the spell in one go, but he wasn't there yet. He still had to build his spells one baby step at a time. But, oh so soon, it would be done. When it was, he would have it made. The holy grail would be in his grasp.

He, Bradley Jacobs, would have a scrying window that looked out into the girl's changing room. Once he had that, all he would have to do was wait until after the next cheerleader practice, when they would all need to change and maybe most of them would shower, and then he would RULE! He would ROCK! He wouldn't be able to tell anyone, but he would know what he had seen, and that would be enough.

But first things first. Something demanded immediate attention. Fatigue filling his body, Bradley stumbled to his bed and collapsed into a deep slumber.

His alarm rang and rang, finally dragging him from bed. Bradley knew that this kind of sleep wasn't good for him, but real sleep could wait until after he finished the spell. After he had the prize sought by every schoolboy since the dawn of time. Well, not every boy, health class had covered how some boys weren't chasing after the same dream, but Bradley didn't worry about that. All he cared about was getting the holy grail in his own hands. And he was only a few days, maybe a week, from that oh so important goal.

Stumbling through his morning classes, Bradley's world didn't fail apart until lunch. He sat at his usual table with the usual crowd - all magic geeks (and all guys) like him.

"Did you hear?" Jason Albright asked. "Paul got arrested!"

"What? Paul? Paul Stedman? But I saw him in first period."

"Yeah, but he had a free class during third, and he worked a spell." Glen Yardley said gleeful. "An illegal one!"

"Not illegal, just illegally used." Jason corrected. "It wasn't necromancy or anything like that. It was only a scrying spell."

"A scrying spell?" Bradley asked, worry entering his voice.

"Yeah, the dweeb was trying to scry into the girl's locker room." Glen chuckled. "Like they aren't warded six ways from Sunday. Which they are, and he triggered them all."

"Not that he was awake for it." Jason chuckled. "He passed out working on the final bit. He didn't see a thing."

"Of course he didn't! The dweeb never thought to check the schedule! The room was empty. The gym wasn't even being used! What a dweeb." Glen chuckled. Well, it was closer to a giggle, but Bradley didn't think of the word giggle when it applied to boys laughter.

"Yeah, what a dweeb!" Bradley said, joining in the laughter so no one would know that he had had the same plan.

A plan that was now ruined.

"Damn!" Bradley swore in the safety of his bedroom. "Fuck damn shit fuck damn!"

All that time, wasted. All that work, wasted. All that magical energy... maybe not wasted.

There had to be a way to achieve the same results. There had to be. Not a way into the locker room, no, that was too tightly guardedly, but some way. Some way to see real girls without any clothes on.

Clothes...

Bradley attacked his library, then moved his search to the public library. All the good, really good books on magic were off limits to all but professional magic users, but there was always something in the general sections. It took him hours of long work, but finally he found it.

There was it was, on page 231 of Harker's Big Book of Jokes, an x-ray vision spell. It was listed as a party trick, but Bradley wasn't going to wait for a party to use it. He could draw the power from his scrying spell and ... yes, it would work. It wouldn't be same as seeing them all showering (all wet and soapy as they touched their own bodies!), but he could walk down the hall at school and see everything the girls had.

It took a few days of work, but on Tuesday morning he was ready. Bradley walked into school, reached into his bag, and pulled out the special cream he had made. Turning to face the wall he smeared a streak of cream over each eye. The cream would be visible, but pseudo celtic runes were in style now so the marks would blend right in.

"Will Amy Forbes be walking by?" Bradley wondered. "Or Sarah Reid?"

Unsure of who he would be seeing, only sure that whoever he saw would be worth all the effort and hard work, Bradley turned around and Saw...

His skin went pale. The spell had worked. He was seeing under everyone's clothing all right. Several inches under it. He could see the their blood flowing through their bodies. He could see into their stomachs. He could see their breakfasts slowly breaking down inside their stomachs. He could see...

Too much. Too many things that man was never meant to see.

One hand flew to his mouth as he raced towards the nearest bathroom. He crammed his eyes shut, but that didn't help. He could see through his own eyelids. He didn't look down, knowing that he could see through his own skin and he didn't want to know what he looked like under it. He slammed into the stall's door - it was transparent, barely there until his face hit it - then was bending over the toilet puking his guts out.

His breakfast had tasted better going down, and as it came up Bradley tried to think. He knew one thing - Paul Stedman was being charged with some serious crimes and Bradley didn't want that to happen to him. Thinking about Paul's fate, Bradley was sure that there was a law against looking under girls' clothes. Probably something about invasion of privacy. Bending over the toilet, gushing again, his mind raced, looking for an out.

Of course someone noticed him being sick. With both his hands covering his closed eyes he was escorted to the nurse's office. With that many layers covering his eyes he could see a bit better, but (cruelly enough) only one layer of clothing could be seen through.

"And what do we have here?" Nurse Jenson asked brightly. Of course she had an idea; it had to be a magical experiment gone wrong. That was the only explanation for an otherwise healthy student being escorted in to her office smelling of vomit, covering his eyes like that.

"Um, a vision spell didn't work right." Bradley stammered, trying not to react the sight of her bra, girdle, and underwear.

"What kind of vision spell? Microscopic? Distance?" Nurse Jenson asked as she led him into the inner office, having a good idea what sort of vision spells teenaged boys tried to use.

"Um, well, there's been this bug going around and no one knows if it's a bad cold or a mild flu, so I thought I could impress people ..."

"... People?" Nurse Jenson asked sharply.

"Um, girls." Bradley admitted. "I thought that if I could do a dialogistic spell then I could impress people, but it didn't work right."

"Uh huh. So what are you seeing?" Nurse Jenson asked.

"I'm seeing inside people, but I don't know what it means and it all looks gross." Bradley admitted, hoping that his story made sense. He knew that dialogistic spells were usually easier to cast then to interpret and hoped that his story was plausible.

Nurse Jenson looked at him. The story was plausible, she had no real reason to doubt it, but she knew he was lying. Four to eight times a year boys stumbled in, all with the same symptoms. Some admitted that they had tried an x-ray vision spell but others gave a reasonable explanation. She knew what one policy said she should do, but the school hated to involve the authorities for misbehaving students.

"Well, there's two ways to handle this." Nurse Jenson said coolly. "The first way is get the head of magical studies out of class and in here to undo this."

If Bradley's skin wasn't already deathly pale it would have gone so. Doc Cribbins was a good teacher, the school was lucky to have him, but there was no way Bradley's story would fool him. The man would take one Look and know what Bradley had been trying to do.

"The other way is try to flood the magical senses by overloading the physical ones." Nurse Jenson informed him. "Which one do you want to go with?"

"The second one. Physical one. Not need to bother Doc Cribbins." Bradley babbled.

"Right then. Well, first thing is we need to get you cleaned up. Do you have gym clothes? We'll send someone to your locker to get them." Nurse Jenson said. "Now face the wall, this will go easier if you aren't looking at anyone."

Bradley faced the wall, seeing the piping and ductwork that lay under its surface.

"She's a nurse." Bradley told him as Nurse Jenson stripped off his vomit covered clothes. He told himself that there was a bright side, that while his clothing was sprayed with vomit it hadn't soaked through, which meant he could keep his socks and underwear.

"And now we'll just wash that off your clothes so it won't set." Nurse Jenson commented, keeping up her running commentary.

Bradley felt cleaner when she was done, but he was still seeing duct work.

"Now for the overloading of the physical senses." Nurse Jenson said as she led him away from the wall.

Bradley tried not to look at her, or himself, as he was led to a translucent thing he thought maybe was a chair. Nurse Jenson faced him away from the chair, then sat in it.

"I'm sorry to say but those shorts have to come down for this part." Nurse Jenson declared. "But don't be embarrassed, I'm a nurse and I've seen it all before."

"Um, what's coming next?" Bradley asked as his underwear was lowered.

"Why the sensory overload of course." Nurse Jenson explained. "It's kind of a fight / flee thing. When the physical senses are overloading the magical ones shut down so the body can deal with what's really important."

"Oh, right. That makes sense."

"So do you still want to do this, or do I page Doctor Cribbins?" Nurse Jenson asked. She hated using the title for someone who was an academic and not an MD, but Cribbins insisted on it.

"This." Bradley said firmly, wondering what was about to happen.

What happened next was Nurse Jenson flopping him over her lap.

"What are you doing?" Bradley squealed (and hated how high his voice sounded).

"Overloading your senses." Nurse Jenson answered, bringing palm down.

"Hey, but I didn't do anything! And you can't!" Bradley protested.

"Young man, I'm not punishing you. I am merely applying a medical treatment." Nurse Jenson said calmly, bringing her palm down again. "This physical sensation should start blocking out your mystic senses."

Bradley opened his mouth to protest, but her palm came down again and the floor got higher. Or rather the floor stayed at the same height and Bradley stopped seeing so deeply into it.

"I think it's working?!?!" Bradley exclaimed in disbelief.

"Well of course it is." Nurse Jenson said calmly. "I am a medical professional you know. I do have training and I know what I'm doing."

Three more spanks left Bradley wincing, but most of his vision problems were gone.

"I think it's cured." Bradley exclaimed.

"Well let's just be sure, shall we?" Nurse Jenson said, alternating the tempo of her palm.

A few spanks later and Bradley was sure it was cured, Nurse Jenson less so.

"This is a health issue so we'll go with my professional opinion." Nurse Jenson informed him, her palm's movement pausing not in the least. "Unless you think we need Doctor Cribbins in here? No? Then let's get you back to this reality."

Trapped by the knowledge that Doc Cribbins would see through his lies, Bradley had no choice but to agree.

Once, when he was 11, Bradley had been staying over at an aunt's house and knocked over the cookie jar. His attempt at a midnight pantry raid had resulted in a broken cookie jar and swift trip over his aunt's lap as she explained how wrong his actions had been. Her deed that night had left a lasting impression, one that linger long after the marks faded from his bum. As his parents were infrequent users of corporal punishment so in his mind that time with his aunt had defined what hard spanking was.

Bradley now concluded that his outraged aunt giving him a punishment had nothing on Nurse Jenson applying a medical procedure. Both brought tears to his eyes, and (surprisingly) both ended with him facing a corner.

"Now stand there until we're sure, absolutely sure, that your vision is back to normal." Nurse Jenson ordered. "We don't want anything entering your field of vision and overloading it."

Bradley tried to assure her that (except for the tears in his eyes) his sight was back to normal, but Nurse Jenson didn't listen to him, just as she hadn't listened to all his frantic attempts to explain that his mystic senses were fine and his physical ones didn't need any more overloading.

Leaving him there, Nurse Jenson was satisfied that if he had tried an x-ray vision spell that he would never do it again, and once more she was happy that the school board had adopted this 'medical treatment' for overloading the physical senses. Of course there wasn't much choice; the only other reliable way to do it was with an enema and that was seen as too intrusive.

Then again, the procedure's write up had a flaw in it. It stated that the school nurse "... may consult with the student concerning the current sensory overload and its effect on the mystical enhanced sense." May, not 'will', not 'shall', not even 'should', but 'may'. That meant that school nurses were free to disregard that aspect of the policy, and go with the line that said that they should make every effort to ensure that the overload had been effective, which Nurse Jenson always did. She considered what she did was making sure that it had been effective this time and was effective in avoiding other times, so no one could say that Nurse Jenson wasn't following school policy.

Besides, if they weren't guilty of something then they would want the head of magic studies to remove the spell, wouldn't they?

All in all, when Bradley finally left in his gym clothes and freshly washed face, Nurse Jenson considered that she had done a very good job with him.

When Bradley arrived as his second class of the morning (the experience with Nurse Jenson taking up almost all of first period) he discovered that he couldn't sit comfortably. No matter how he tried shifting his weight there was just too much of it coming on his sore bottom.

His day didn't get much better. He was still shifting his seat in his fourth period (the last before lunch), magical geometry. He knew that stories were making the rounds about how he had been sick and he knew he was getting looks for being in his gym clothes.

Mary Beth Wright was one of those looking, not that he noticed. Mary Beth knew Bradley, shrinking under the stares of others, didn't notice her eyes, and wondered if he ever would.

When class was over, Mary Beth bumped into Bradley.

"Sorry." Mary Beth said.

"It's all right." Bradley said. "It's not like my day can get any worse. The whole day is shot."

"Yeah, any trip to Nurse Jenson can do that." Mary Beth joked, then went on her way.

She told herself that she wasn't being cruel, just trying to be noticed. Her parting words might have been a dig, but a dig to get Bradley thinking about her rather than to hurt him.

'Besides.' Mary Beth thought. 'If nothing happened then it won't be a real dig. If I'm wrong then he won't know what I'm talking about. He'll just think that I meant that it's always been a bad when you have to see the school nurse.'

She couldn't help thinking about her own encounter with Nurse Jenson.

It was more than a month ago, but the lead up had started long before that.

"But then she said that it didn't matter, but then Linda said that she talked to Claudia and Claudia did mean it, so I don't know. But diary, if she did mean it..."

Mary Beth closed her eyes, willing herself not to cry. Claudia could be so mean! That girl's tongue could cut deeper than any knife could. Whatever happened, Mary Beth had to know how Claudia really felt.

"But how can I know that?" Mary Beth wondered in her diary. "I can't go by what she says. Claudia's so used to lying that she wouldn't know the truth if it bit her on the ass. But how can I know what she really thinks?"

Mary Beth was near the top of her class when it came to magic, and she was a long time member of the after school magic club, but she knew she didn't have the power to read minds. Or did she? Mind reading spells were hard, very hard, and they weren't included any book of spells she had access to, but maybe, if she looked very hard she might find a spell that she could work.

Her search had been a roundabout one. She couldn't just look for a mind reading spell, that would be like banging her head against a brick wall, but what was mind reading used for? It had taken her days of searching, but she found what she was looking for in the medical section of the library. Not the part where the librarians chased had to chase the kids away from the anatomy books, but in the part where they kept the psyc books. It was there, mixed in with the counselling manuals. It wouldn't allow her probe deep thoughts or read memories, but surface thoughts would be enough, wouldn't they? Just enough to know what Claudia was really thinking when she was speaking her lies. Looking at the spell, Mary Beth knew that finally she would be able to know what someone really thought of her.

Know what...

It hit her. She could know what a boy really thought about her. Assuming that any boy actually thought of her, but if any did then she would know. The thought electrified her. Knowing what a boy, any boy, really thought about her! And not just any boy, but...

Mary Beth blushed, then rushed off to photocopy the spell.

It took longer than she thought it would, so long that she had made up with Claudia long before she stored the power for the spell.

"FSSSA ZZOA JJJA" Mary Beth intoned, before collapsing on her bed.

"That's hard." Mary Beth wheezed. "I can't wait until I'm older and magic is easier. Everything will be perfect when I'm older."

She even timed it right. They were just about to start new section in their magic class, so people would understand if she did a little extra magic at home, just a bit extra to prepare for the new section.

Mary Beth planned everything to down to a T. She asked to be excused near the end of third period, giving herself extra time in the bathroom to finish the spell. Mary Beth intoned the final words while rubbing an ointment on her ears. Not that she would hear the thoughts with her ears, but they were symbolic for hearing so doing that would help her hear the thoughts. Intoning the last word, Beth couldn't help but wonder what thoughts she would soon hear.

"It's happening." Mary Beth thought as the world shifted slightly.

She left the bathroom to hurry to her next class. She couldn't wait for the spell to kick, and wanted to be next to just the right person when it. As she moved she was bursting with energy, her thoughts bubbling.

'I'm going to do it.' Mary Beth thought. 'I'm really going to know what he thinks about me.'

Then the noise hit her. The loud, constant noise. People weren't talking loudly, but they were thinking and all of their thoughts were coming to her at once. It was like she was walking though a haze of noise, then stumbling.

She was almost crawling when someone stopped to help her to the nurse's office.

Being in the nurse's office helped; the lack of people pressing physically pressing against her made it easier not to hear their thoughts. But they were still there; in a building packed with students there would be nowhere that she couldn't feel the press of other people's thoughts bearing down on her.

"And what do we have here?" Nurse Jenson asked brightly. Of course she had an idea; it had to be a magical experiment gone wrong.

Mary Beth had to struggle to struggle to separate Nurse Jenson's words from the constant stream of thoughts. It hard to grasp the nurse's meaning, but she got the gist of what Nurse Jenson was saying.

"I did a spell and it didn't work." Mary Beth moaned, her hands pressing tightly against her head in a futile attempt to keep the thoughts out of her head.

"Really? And what sort of spell was it?" Nurse Jenson pressed (having a good idea) as she led the girl into the inner office.

"We're starting this course block on empathy spells, and I tried to read ahead, and now everyone's inside my head." Mary Beth whined. Her thoughts might be messed, but she was still together enough to stick to her story.

Nurse Jenson looked at Mary Beth. The story was plausible, she had no real reason to doubt it, but she knew the girl was lying. Girls were so less superficial than boys; while boys were always yearning for a flash of skin, girls usually wanted to know about thoughts and feelings. Nurse Jenson wasn't sure if Mary Beth had wanted to know if one of her friends liked her or whether a boy like liked her. Not that it mattered; either way what the girl had done was technically illegal. Mind reading spells were an invasion of privacy, much more than just a glimpse of bare skin. But the girl had a semi-plausible excuse and the administration didn't like involving the authorities when students were concerned. Nurse Jenson knew there was a simple way to test if it was really a mistake or not.

"Well, there's two ways to handle this." Nurse Jenson said coolly. "The first way is get the head of magical studies out of class and in here to undo this."

Mary Beth was already shaking her head. She knew that Doc Cribbins would take one look at the spell and know it had nothing to do with empathy.

"The other way is try to flood the magical senses by overloading the physical ones." Nurse Jenson informed her. "Which one do you want to go with?"

"The physical way." Mary Beth said quickly. "There's no need to bother Doctor Cribbins about my little problem."

"Right then. Well, first thing is we need to get your slacks down." Nurse Jenson instructed.

That comment cut across the other thoughts in her head.

"What?" Mary asked nervously. "Um, what kind of sensory thing do you mean?"

"Well there are two ways of doing it." Nurse Jenson explained. "And the other way involves giving you an enema. You don't want an enema, do you?"

"No, no way. Not that." Mary Beth exclaimed.

"Good, because I don't want to give you one. Now get those slacks off." Nurse Jenson instructed.

"But if I'm not getting an ..."

"Do you want me to get Doctor Cribbins?" Nurse Jenson quizzed.

Mary Beth shook her head and undid her slacks, still wondering what Nurse Jenson was talking about. She knew she should be able to read the nurse's mind and know what was happening, but she couldn't filter out everyone else to hear what the nurse was thinking.

Not even when they were touching. Nurse Jenson helped Mary Beth out of her slacks, easing them over her shoes.

And that wasn't all that Nurse Jenson helped down.

"Um, I said I didn't want the enema." Mary Beth said weakly. "I did say that, didn't I? It wasn't just a voice inside my head, was it? Because I know I said I didn't want..."

"Oh, I'm not going to give you an enema, just overload your senses. It's kind of a fight / flee thing. When the physical senses are overloading the magical ones shut down so the body can deal with what's really important. Once that happens the voices in your head will be gone." Nurse Jenson said soothingly as she guided Mary Beth over her lap.

"But I'm not sure..." Mary Beth began to say.

Then Nurse Jenson brought her palm down hard.

"Ow! But ..."

"But you don't want Doctor Cribbins and you don't want the enema." Nurse Jenson explained, bring her palm down again and again.

"Hey! But I mean ow!" Mary Beth exclaimed.

But Mary Beth could tell it was working. The burden of the voices was getting lighter. The sounds in her head were leaving, leaving Mary Beth alone with the sounds of Nurse Jenson smacking her bum.

As the last of the spell let go, Mary Beth got one last glimpse of insight. It arrived with yet another smack landed her backside, the physical contact making one last mental connection. Mary Beth suddenly knew that she was getting a spanking. Oh, she had noticed the palm making contact, but she now knew it wasn't part of any medical treatment, not any more, not after the first half dozen smacks. No, now it was just a spanking. Mary Beth knew that Nurse Jenson received a feeling of satisfaction from punishing misbehaving students in this quick and certain way. That Nurse Jenson felt that many of the students got away with far too many hijinks and enjoyed using this 'treatment' to give them what she knew they had coming.

But then that insight was gone, and in its place a rapidly building heat in her backside. Mary Beth wanted to protest, to tell the nurse that the treatment was over, but she knew it wouldn't do any good. That nothing she could say would interfere with what Nurse Jenson was planning to do.

Try as she might, Mary Beth didn't stay silent, but her outbursts were exclamations of pain, not attempts at carefully reasoned logic aimed at stopping the spanking.

It wasn't the first time that Mary Beth had been taken over a lap, and Nurse Jenson was only using her hand, but Mary Beth was kicking and sobbing like a child before Nurse Jenson was finished, and that was rare for her. Tears were one thing, but Mary Beth wasn't sure she had ever actually sobbed after a spanking before, not like the way she was when Nurse Jenson positioned her in the corner.

"Now stand there until we're sure, absolutely sure, that there aren't any more voices in her your head." Nurse Jenson ordered. "This is the best place for you now, away from the crush of people, all with their thoughts spilling out their heads."

Mary Beth barely heard Nurse Jenson through her sobbing, but she nodded anyway. She knew that nothing she said would change Nurse Jenson's mind in anyway. Nurse Jenson was putting her in corner, like naughty toddler who'd had her bum smacked, and that was all there was to it. The school nurse might be explaining this away as a medical procedure, but Mary Beth knew was her just punishment for trying to break into people's minds.

Leaving her there, Nurse Jenson briefly wondered if Mary Beth had picked up anything about her motives while she was over her lap, or if the girl still thought this was just a medical procedure. In either case, she was satisfied that the girl wasn't going to try something like again. And if Mary Beth did know then, well, there was that school board policy to fall back on. But it wasn't like the girl could complain, not without explaining how she knew Nurse Jenson's motives, not without explaining her initial criminal act.

Nurse Jenson knew that over the years a few of the mind readers had picked up on her true motives, but that they accepted a sore bottom was better than a criminal record.

Mary Beth remembered how terrible she had felt that day, and how she was sure that everyone knew what had happened to her. But no one said anything, and slowly it dawned on that no one knew her secret. Well, others might know, but they were in the same boat as her.

Now here it was, only a month later, and she was seeing another student who had run afoul of Nurse Jenson. And not just any student, but Bradley Henson! They barely knew each other, but Mary Beth knew a lot about Bradley. He was near the top of their magical classes, and great at magic club (always coming up with new tricks), and he while he wasn't a jock he was cute and looked nice in his brown sweater. He was one of the boys that she had wanted to know if he liked her or like liked her. Not at the top of the list, but pretty close to the top.

And now she had something to talk to him about. A common experience that they shared. Something that linked them.

Maybe.

If the story she had heard about Bradley throwing up was true, and if his shifting in his seat meant what she thought it did, and if Nurse Jenson still spanked, and if Bradley had given her a reason to spank, then they had something shared between. It was a lot of 'if's but it was starting place.

If Bradley wasn't to embarrassed to let the link form. Assuming that she wasn't too embarrassed talk to him about it. Assuming that she hadn't just made the biggest mistake in her life by mentioning it.

The thought that she had done just that, made a huge, never to recover from, mistake, haunted Mary Beth for the rest of the day.

Mary Beth's words echoed in Bradley's ears for the rest of the day. Their impact was almost more than what Nurse Jenson had done... Bradley took a moment to reflect on it, and admitted to himself that what Nurse Jenson had done was held a much bigger impact on him then anything that Mary Beth said, but Nurse Jenson wouldn't tell anyone and Mary Beth might.

If she really knew.

With her words haunting him, Bradley sought Mary Beth out after magic club ended.

"That was exhausting, but after today's practice we should be able do the fireworks thing every time the team scores." Bradley said.

"Yeah, and that should show those jock that magic is good for something." Mary Beth agreed.

"It should, but it might not." Bradley cautioned, walking with Mary Beth to her locker. "Some of those jocks won't listen to anything."

"I know. Some of them are as stuck up as cheerleaders." Mary Beth agreed.

Something suddenly hit Bradley - he was talking with a girl. Actually talking to someone who was a girl. Mary Beth wasn't at (or even near) the top of the list of girls whose clothes he had wanted to see through, and in some ways she was almost like one of the guys that hung around magic club, but she was still a girl and he was talking to her.

Suddenly he was out of words to say, so said the first thing that popped into his head.

"Um, so, you said something about Nurse Jenson?" Bradley asked.

The moment the words were out of his mouth, Bradley felt sure he had made a mistake.

"Um, yeah. Nurse Jenson and her 'physical sensation block out your mystic ones' routine. I'm surprise half the school doesn't know about it." Mary Beth joked, or at least she hoped that it sounded like she was joking.

"You mean there are stories?" Bradley asked in surprise. "Why didn't I hear any of them?"

"Um, well, technically I didn't hear those stories either." Mary Beth admitted. "I was trying for an empathy spell, but it got out of control and well, she grounded me in this reality. You?"

"Um, I was trying for a different spell, and it really screwed up my vision." Bradley answered, hoping that he wasn't revealing too much about the nature of the spell that had backfired on him. It would be terrible if the guys at school learned what he had tried to do, but mortifying if any girl ever knew, even one that was almost like one of the guys, like Mary Beth. Any guy would understand why he wanted to do something like that but no girl would.

"I thought it might be something like that. That treatment is mainly done for sensory spells." Mary Beth said, nodding sagely.

"How do you know that?" Bradley asked in confusion.

"Well, after, um, it happened to me." Mary Beth began, almost saying 'after I was spanked' but switching the words in time. "I looked up the policy. It took a bit of searching, but it's right there in the policy book. It's listed as an emergency medial treatment and says the school nurse 'may' check with the student to see how it's effecting the mystically enhanced senses, but it doesn't say she has to."

"Well she didn't listen to me when I tried to tell her I was seeing okay." Bradley said darkly.

"Me neither." Mary Beth commiserated. "I think she wasn't listening purpose, but there's no way I could ever prove it, and even if I did there's nothing in the policy that says she HAS to listen, just that she may."

"Maybe they snuck it in as an unofficial punishment?" Bradley suggested. "For, you know, screwing up a spell and maybe endangering yourself or something. Something that they leave to the nurse to decide if you need it to smarten you up."

"Maybe, but I never want to let her make that decision again." Mary Beth said, faking a rub at her backside.

"Me neither." Bradley agreed.

Mary Beth took a deep breath, centred herself, and then did something that was much more difficult than casting that mind reading spell.

"So, do you have a partner yet for Mrs. Browder's charms assignment yet?" Mary Beth asked, hoping that she didn't look as scared as she felt.

"Um, no. I was going to maybe partner up with Paul Stedman, but that was only because Jason Albright already had a partner, and that was before Paul Stedman got himself arrested." Bradley said.

The moment the words left his mouth Bradley saw his mistaken; Paul had been arrested for trying to see into the girls' locker room, and Mary Beth knew that Bradley had tried some kind of vision spell. He didn't want her to associate those ideas in her mind, so filled the silence with the first thing he could think of.

"Um, so, do you want to be partners?"

Mary Beth forced her face to stay calm while inside she was screaming "YES! YES! YES!". Aloud she said: "Well, I suppose. What with Janet Bridges already having a partner and all, I guess it makes sense."

Mary Beth hoped she had played it right; Janet Bridges was the top girl student in that class, so Mary Beth hoped Bradley would think she wanted to be his partner just because he got good grades.

"Well I guess we're partners." Bradley replied. "We can let Mrs. Browder know tomorrow, I guess."

"Sure." Mary Beth agreed.

When she left the school that day, Mary Beth was happy, no, elated that Nurse Jenson had spanked her. Without that spanking then she would never have made the connection to why Bradley was shifting in his seat and without that she wouldn't be partnered up with the cool, cute, handsome, smart, clever, magically adept, smart dressing, graceful Bradley Henson. Getting a sore bottom from the school nurse was a nothing price to pay for that.

As for Bradley, he later discovered that having one girl taking off her blouse for you was so much better than being able to see through the clothing of every girl in the school.

Thanks for taking the time to comment on this story. It sat around for a while because I wanted to somehow tie everything together - to have him do his "nude girls" spell and her do her "what does he really think of me" spell. Maybe to get spanked for it or maybe to do some magic spanking.

But I couldn't come up with that so went with the happy ending of them being together - passing on an eternal truth: It's better to have one woman who will take her clothes off for you than to be able to hundreds of strange women nude.
